The CFT

So we just hit a CF Total yesterday. How many of you PR'd -- and on what? Are you surprised at all given the fact that we don't do heavy singles very much anymore unless they are of the Olympic Lifting variety? There were some outstanding efforts -- and it was really great to see people miss a lift, get fired up, put even a little MORE on the bar and then execute the lift. Even more awesome than that was how everyone self-policed and made sure the standards for the lifts and the rules for the CFT were being adhered to. It's kinda funny how contstraints and standards make for a more interesting time, no?

For those of you that did the total take a look at the standards chart and see where you fall for your body-weight class. What's it going to take to get to the next level? Not sure? Well, that's why we're here! We'll be glad to help!

Olympic Lifting Class -- Saturdays & Tuesdays

I'd like to reiterate what you all, hopefully, read in the email I sent out earlier today: The Olympic lifting classes are not just for people that are comfortable with the lifts. They are for everyone and intended to give peeps of all experience levels anopportunity for a dedicated, coached and filmed practice session. The lifts are going to come up in strength WOD's and in metcons -- so wouldn't it make sense to have practiced them at a regular interval vs doing them as part of a WOD that you happen to show up for? Even if you know the lifts pretty well for sports performance -- no one at CFD is so experienced in weightlifting that they can forgo it for any length of time without regressing significantly (I''ll follow up more about training regimens / detraining in an email next week)

For those of you that want it -- we'll be providing some progressive programming so you have a better idea of what you're going to be working on when you come in for your Oly lifts. Look for more info coming on that in an email next week as well or just hit up Kitch when you see him.

Rafting

The idea of a CFD rafting trip has been brought up! This is a great idea! Thanks, Tara! If anyone has prior experience with a rental shop that they can endorse / suggest / hook us up with a deal -- speak up! I'd like to get crack-a-lacking on it after this weekend.

River Rat Rentals handles the law school trip every September...they are good with large or small groups and very affordable. They have one hour, two hour, half day, and full day trips. Reeaallly fun!

We've used rvier rat rentals every time we've gone, http://www.river-rat.com/ , so much fun! Usually more of a float/beer drinking saunter down the river. Are you looking for relaxing chill raft trip or something more challenging? (If it's the beer kind, I'm in )

That is really funny. I was thinking the adrenaline-rush whitewater kind (i.e. the South Fork of the American), but honestly, I'm down for whatever kind of hanging out on the river everyone else wants to do. It'll be fun no matter what. I've only gone with friends (who are river guides), but I know ARTA is a good company. I can also check with Outdoor Adventures (OA) on campus, they do trips every weekend I think to the South Fork, and we should be able to get a good group discount even for those of us who aren't students or campus affiliates.
