Every second does count. Just take a look at the final standings from the NorCal Qualifier after the break.
In the last post I wrote:
As for the event -- holy crap. WOD A, the 500m Row, Burpee, 165lb jerk was a beast and my guy Will Dotterweich got a bit caught up in the moment and rowed a 1:26 when he should have pulled a 1:35. Going 9 secounds faster on the row cost him a minute, at least on his overall WOD A time. Even so -- he put up a number that was really, really good.
That (relatively for him) not so good finish on WOD A really cost Will. He finished in 6th place overall with 1303 points. Angel Orozco finished with 1305. Maybe a 4:48 instead of a 4:52 gets him in the games.
Awesome kid that he is though, Will took it in stride and is just pleased as punch that people even knew who he was prior to the Qualifiers and that he'd made a statement about himself. He's learning how to put it together on the bigger stage and for where he's at right now at the age of 18 and about to head off to Notre Dame (Coach Burgener are you hearing this??), that is soo appropriate.
Anyhoo, this kid eats WODS all day long, so the CF Games might not have seen the last of him yet. In fact, they might not seen the last of you yet either. Those people that did not qualify or did not get a chance to make it to the qualifiers for their region can submit videos of a to be determined set of workouts.
Details, or rather the lack thereof can be found in the One Last Chance To Qualify post on the CF Games blog.
