If you are training hard, say 4x+ a week, think about taking a "back off" week every three to four weeks. If you're hitting it five to six days a week, chances are you'll want to take the back off week sooner than later. You're still training, just lowering the intensity from "power of a thousand suns" to more human levels. Savvy?

This seems to fly in the face of CrossFit's attitude toward intensity (power production), but the truth is...we wear down and in order to take a step forward we have to take a step back.

Why Back Off?

  • avoid injury
  • more fully recover
  • set you up for better performance

How?

  • lessen the intensity of your wods by
    • scaling!!!

What else? During this time you should...

  • check your diet
  • check your sleep
  • stretch!
  • have some fun!
