The chocolatey zone bars are pretty good. Although it seems wrong to be eating something that seems like a candy bars when I'm trying to be healthy, but whatever. I'm also digging salame, cottage cheese with fruit, string cheese, these Pepita seeds I got at Trader Joe's and snap peas.
Also, my new favorite breakfast: egg whites scrambled Morning Star sausage (it's tofu) Flax bread made by Alvarado St toasted with frozen strawberries that I microwaved and smashed up on top of the toast. 4 blocks of yummmmmm!
I found a lot of good hippy crap that fits in a zone diet at Trader Joe's and the Co-op. I think all the sodium in the stuff I'm thinking of would make it bad for the paleo peeps.
I think my current favorite snack is the Zone bars, mostly because they're really close to normal Zone ratios. I do like almonds, too. I also got a bunch of fruit and nut mix, which would work well with a little jerky. My problem with snacking on that during the day is that I get jerky stuck between my teeth, and it's really annoying. I need a better snack-like protein source.
Pre-Zone, I didn't really snack all that much, but I'd sometimes grab a bag of M&Ms or similar in the afternoon. I can't say I miss that much, because it would often make me feel crappy.
